This unique 1957 Mercedes-Benz LF 311 vintage fire truck in concours condition is a valuable addition for collectors and classic vehicle enthusiasts.
Originally purchased by the plant fire department of Chemische Werke Hüls AG in Herne-Wanne.
The Carl Metz-bodied TroSLF 16 was deployed as a firefighting group vehicle, designated LF 16-S (special version).
With a different superstructure, it was capable of carrying 560 liters of foam compound and 750 kg of powder, making this vehicle particularly versatile.
The large speaker on the roof was used for important announcements to plant personnel and the public.
The vehicle remained in active service at Chemische Werke Hüls AG until the late 1980s, after which it was acquired and carefully restored by the Herne Volunteer Fire Department, "In der Wanne" unit.
